Abersoch: the perfect family holiday destination

This post is sponsored by Abersoch Quality Homes

Abersoch has long been the holiday destination of choice for many Cheshire families. Situated on the beautiful Llyn peninsula in North Wales, it’s less than a 2 and a half hour drive from Knutsford. It’s easy to see the attraction of such a convenient holiday; load up the car (to bursting!) after breakfast and you’ll be on the beach before lunch.

We had our first trip as a family last summer, and loved it so much we’ve booked to go again this year. So what makes it so popular? We teamed up with Abersoch Quality Homes, a local holiday lettings agent, to tell you why!!

Fabulous beaches

The Llyn Peninsula offers a wide selection of stunning beaches, though you don’t really need to look any further than Abersoch’s Main Beach. Just a few minutes’ walk from the high street, it offers a wide stretch of golden sand flanked with the iconic colourful beach huts. The beach is classified as “safe” and its sheltered waters offer fun for all ages, from paddling and rock pooling to various water sports. Abersoch Sailing Club offers boat hire as well as sailing courses for kids and adults.

Abersoch village

Abersoch itself is a small picturesque village offering a range of amenities. There are several family friendly pubs and restaurants if you fancy eating out, plus some takeaways for nights in! Highlights include Zinc Bar & Grill (perfect for date night if you can get a babysitter!), The Coconut Cove,  and Mañana. For special occasions we’ve heard fantastic reviews of the food at Porth Tocyn Hotel too! Abersoch also has two small supermarkets for groceries, some gift shops and several clothing boutiques for all your beach style needs (Fat Face, Jack Wills etc!) Days out

If you can tear yourselves away from the beach, the area around Abersoch has so much more to offer the family. I confess, we’re not the biggest beach goers, so whilst we spent many happy hours on the beach we also did several wonderul trips! There’s Criccieth Castle to explore, the rabbit farm, the Ffestiniog Railway, and Portmeirion, a wonderful Mediterranean style town, to mention but a few. There are plenty of beautiful walks too; even with a baby and toddler in tow we managed a walk to Nefyn beach (to go to what’s officially one of the world’s best beach bars!) and a scenic walk in a mountain village we stumbled upon (no idea where this was!!)
