Tots Gone Wild is my son’s favourite class ever! We started going in October (shortly after the classes began), and it has quickly become the highlight of his week. We wanted to share our wonderful experience so asked the class leader, Traci, if we could do a review of the latest session!
Tots Gone Wild is a class for 2 and a half to 5 year olds which teaches youngsters about British wildlife and farming in a fun and engaging way. It is held in Anderton Town Hall, but has plenty of Knutsford attendees!
The session begins with circle time when we sing the “Hello song” and Traci talks to each child in turn. They love bringing in their favourite toys to show her or telling her something exciting about their week.
After this Traci introduces the theme for the week, and shows the children a slideshow of pictures on the iPad, telling them interesting facts (with some for the grownups too!) Themes this term have included squirrels, badgers, Autumn and kindness (for Children in Need). This week it was reindeer!
After this introduction we move on to a craft activity. As it was a Christmassy theme this week we made some stockings with foam shapes and glitter!
Next we head outdoors to play some sort of game. There is always something fun planned to get the kids burning off some energy. A favourite was squirrel week when the children had to hide paper acorns in the leaves then find them again! This week there was was a snowball fight with pretend snowballs!
Then it’s snack time and hot drinks for the grown ups (very important!!) before finishing with some songs with instruments.
Why do we enjoy Tots Gone Wild so much? When I asked my son he said “Because I love Traci!!!” and this does sum it up…Traci is so good at engaging with the children, and really getting them involved with the activities. She is passionate about wildlife and passes this on to the children (and their grown ups!). I also love that amongst all the fun the children are always gently encouraged to be kind and polite. It really has a bit of everything!
You can view the Tots Gone Wild timetable and contact details here (note the times have been updated for next term!) and if you’re interested in signing up, get in touch with Traci!
