Ice Village Manchester

The wintry domain of the Ice Village is coming to Manchester! Set against a backdrop of snow covered trees and twinkling lights, there will be lots to see and do including a fantastical Ice Cavern with mystical ice creatures, an Ice Tiki Bar, a spacious and all-weather ice rink, Santa’s Grotto and plenty of Christmas stalls, arctic games and tasty food stands.  Entrance to the Ice Village is FREE but you will require tickets for the Ice Cavern, Ice Tiki Bar, Ice Rink and Santa’s Grotto, which can be booked online. Remembrance Sunday in Knutsford

All are welcome at the wreath laying, parades and  services to commemorate this years Remembrance Sunday. The church service at St John’s will be at 9:30am (note the new time) and will be followed by a parade to the Centennial War Memorial (outside the library) for a service there at 10:45am. Please see the Council’s Facebook post for the timings of the other parades and services.

Remembrance Sunday at Anderton Boat Lift

This Sunday, we will commemorate Remembrance Day with a service and cascade of poppies from the top of the Lift. The short service begins at 10:30 with readings and prayers from Rev Neal Stanton.Then at 11:00, thousands of poppy petals will be released from the top of the lift to the sound of the last post the sound of a solemn bugle salute playing the Last Post. Everyone is welcome to come along to the service and there will be no entry fee. Become a factory inspector and have a go at our family trail around the mill created by children’s author Philip Ardagh. Join factory inspector Augustus Snout and his assistant Scuttle on an inspection of the mill. Have a go at different jobs throughout your journey and experience the dangers of working in a cotton mill. Pick up your mill trail at the mill entrance. 50p per trail. Booking not needed.
